Style Profile...Laia, Barcelona

I met the awesome Laia of Let me feel like a doll last weekend during lunch, but Spain was not as it is supposed to be. There was heavy rain coming down the whole time. Therefore it was not that easy to shoot outside. Nevertheless I had to ask some questions about her style and Barcelona of course. I guess Laia mentioned some stunning places you should definitely check out when you are there. Cause I did and I will execute the rest of the list next time.

Describe your personal style.

It is based on the fashion of the 50s and 60s plus a bit of Pin-up, Parisian French and floral romantic styles.

How did you first get interested in fashion and why is it important?

I've always been involved with fashion because my mother had a clothing store. For that reason my whole family is interested. Therefore I have seen magazines in my everyday life since I was a little girl. Nevertheless it took until I was 13. At this age I decided to become a fashion designer and started caring about what to wear.

Source of inspiration?

I get a lot of inspiration from other blogs and TV series. Furthermore, there are some films that inspire me. But I get the most inspiration from the occasions I plan the outfits for haha.

Style icons?

Katy Perry, Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Kitching are the main ones.

Any fashion rules?

Actually not, just be feminine. Furthermore, I just don't feel like I am being myself wearing some kind of things but this is not like a rule.

What’s the favorite piece in your closet and which piece would you really like to own?

My favorite piece right now are my new denim scallop shorts from Topshop and I would love to have the multi glitter Lita boots by Jeffrey Campbell, but I am just not sure if I would wear them enough that they are worth the money.

Favorite stores in Barcelona?

The little vintage ones in Riera Baixa and Tallers, Le Monde du Sophie in Sarrià, Bibian Blue for corsets and Boudoir for luxury lingerie, even though I cannot afford the last two.

Best Shopping Area?

The city centre, the Raval, the Barri Gòtic and the Born.

Favorite place in Barcelona?

I am in love with the little streets of the Gothic Area, the Plaça Sant Felip Neri. The Roman columns at the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya are probably my favorites and also the Plaça del Rei when it's absolutely empty early in the morning.

Favorite place to have a night out?

Dixi to start the night and then Razzmatazz or Señor Lobo.

Favorite café in your neighbourhood?

Oh I am not really into my neighbourhood, but one of my favorite places in Barcelona is Demasié in Urquinaona.

Best place to eat?

If you like Japanese, Udon is my favorite place recently, they have a delicious 9,95€ menu every midday.

Which tips would you give someone who wants to visit Barcelona?

Be careful with your belongings! I have grown up here so I am used to pickpocketing, but lots of tourists come from absolutely safe places and they are too trustful.

Style Profile...Anni, Stuttgart

Last time I was in Stuttgart a friend of mine introduced me to Anni and her blog Fashion Hippie Loves. Therefore I thought it would be great to hang out, shoot and get some insights in her thoughts during my next trip. Here we go.

Describe your personal style.

This is quite a tough one because I wear what I like. But I prefer the hippie, boho, vintage look and furthermore I like to wear patterns and clean chic.

How did you first get interested in fashion and why is it important?

I've been interested in fashion since I was a little girl. I remember me wearing the dresses and shoes of my mum. I guess this is the origin of my passion, a passion where I can express my emotions.

Why did you decide to become a fashion blogger?

At the age of 15 I started reading fashion blogs and it was such a great inspiration for experimenting with my own style. And then there was the moment I thought: If they can do it, so can I.

What have been the most fun opportunities that have come out of blogging?

I really really like to meet so many other lovely bloggers and some of them become good friends of mine.

What’s the favorite piece in your closet and which piece would you really like to own?

My absolutely favorite pieces are my Arty ring from YSL, my Wayfarer (Ray-Ban) and my hats. I would like to own more YSL Arty rings. I'm so in love with them.

The first thing you look at in another person' s outfit is:

Definitely the shoes!

If you had the chance to be in someone else's shoes and live they're life for a day, who's fashion personality will you be and why?

I think it would be Olivia Palermo, because I love her whole shoe collection and I really like the fact that she combines expensive clothes with cheap pieces. I mean this is real inspiration.

If your life had a soundrack what would be this past summer's song and why?

Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream.

This song reminds me of beautiful warm summer evenings.

Style Profile...Cailin Klohk, Frankfurt

On saturday I met Cailin of Birds of a feather flock together in the streets of Frankfurt. So I thought it's time for another Style Profile.

Describe your personal style…

I don’t think that you can define my style in just a few words, since it kind of changes every day. What I wear really depends on my mood, but I can say that I usually like my outfits to be feminine and preppy and to have a Vintage or Boho touch in them.

How did you first get interested in fashion and why is it important?

I guess I was always interested in fashion, even when I was just a little girl. I started reading fashion magazines when I was still quite young and in time my interest grew and grew, then I discovered fashion blogs and every since it has developed into my biggest passion.

Fashion is so important to me because it’s just what I enjoy the most, what I spend most of my time with and what I can see myself enjoying for the rest of my life.

Source of inspiration?

I get inspired by everything from editorials and collections to other bloggers, from streetstyles to art. Just about everything could inspire me.

Style icons?

There are so many people out there whose styles I adore but in the end, I just want to be myself. Of course, as I mentioned before I get inspired a lot by other people, but personally I don’t have one specific icon, and I don’t really think you should have one. I believe everybody should be themselves and you shouldn’t try to live up to another person too much.

Which fashion rule do you break / never break?

I don’t think there are any rules in fashion, at least not anymore! Which former rule hasn’t been broken by now? Fashion should be all about fun and expressing your personality, not about rules. And I bet if I’d name a “no-go” now, the same thing would be a “must-have” in a few years.

Most underrated item in womenswear?

That’s a tough one... hasn’t every item had their moment in the spotlight throughout the history of fashion? Take socks for instance, which could be named as underrated or unimportant, but when you think about it, they really had their comeback and you see socks in all colours and textures in sandals for example.

What would you say to someone seeking general fashion advice?

As I said before, always be yourself and don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t wear. Your outfits should express your personality not theirs, so you should always wear what you feel most comfortable in and that’ll be the right choice for you. I admire people who have their own style and who look like they wear what they love, even if I wouldn’t wear it that way, I’d still call them well-dressed.

Favorite stores in Frankfurt?

There’s finally an amazing Vintage store in Frankfurt, it opened last week and I’d really recommend it! It’s called Epiphany and the address is Zeil 10.

Favorite place in Frankfurt?

The waterside of Frankfurt’s river, the Main.

Favorite café in your neighbourhood?

My favourite café in Frankfurt is theplacetobe.

What should I ask the next interview?

What’s the favourite piece in your closet and which piece would you really like to own?
