Style Profile...Merle, Hamburg

Last weekend I had the chance to meet Merle in Hamburg. You can find some really stunning outifts on her blog, therefore I thought it was time for another Style Profile.

Describe your personal style…

I would say there's a little playful and girlie part like the look of Alice in Wonderland, a bit of the feminine 50's and several Victorian ascendancies. But mostly I like it British with natural colours, a discreet elegance, romantic patterns and simple trench coats.

Source of inspiration?

It could be an old man who crosses the street, the nature, a special photograph / movie / person / artist / blog, diverse ages and cultures, candies / toys and definitely music! I just need to close my eyes and there is an own told story.

Style icons?

Spontaneously I've no one in mind.

All I know is that I completely fall in love with Oscar Wilde’s classic and also extravagant appearance from the first time I saw him on the backside of one of my books when I was a younger girl. I can't take my eyes of his pictures; they are pure inspiration for me and show an absolutely perfect gentleman.

Any fashion rules?

Fashion is one of the few things where you don't have to hold on any rules. No one can allow you how to dress. So there should be no walls...for nobody!

I would only say that you always should try to show the best but real and unbiased side of you.

What would you say to someone seeking general fashion advice?

I'm sure that there are a lot of dress codes and well clothes out there but you must do your own thing.

Apart from that you supposedly would look disguised. Search for smart shoes at first, that's half the battle.

The first thing you look at in another person's outfit is:

Depends on the outfit but I would say the shoes!

Favorite place in Hamburg?

I could tell you these typical places you surely know or find out if you come here but if you need a contrast program to all you should visit Senator Watrin. It's the most bizarre place I've ever been!
